The DVD

The book comes with a DVD. This is a full and complete version of the Visual Basic .NET IDE that can be used for 60 days. This means you can compile and run VB programs using the Microsoft development system, as described in the book. (It also allows you to compile and run C# and C++ programs.) The software has a 60 day time bomb, and we do not know whether it can be re-installed as many times as you like.

To use the DVD:

• you need Windows NT, 2000 or XP (not 95, 98 or ME). See here for details.
• you need a powerful machine.
• you need an internet connection. (After you have installed the software, when you run it, it needs to connect to Microsoft to get activated)

Uninstalling

If, like us, you always want to know how to uninstall, all is well. The README file on the DVD tells us how to do it. You simply use Add/Remove Programs from the control panel.
