Are You Left-Handed?

Some people are left-handed - for example they might write with their left hand. They need a special left-handed guitar, but they are difficult to find. I know, because I am left-handed myself.

If you can't find a proper left-handed guitar, you can use a normal guitar - see below. (At Learn For Life, I can provide a left-handed one - please ask me.)

Normal right-handed use.

For left-handed use.

But, you also have to alter the strings, so that the thinnest string is nearest the ground. Here is how:

• Remove string 1 and string 6. Swap them, by putting 6 where 1 was, and 1 where 6 was. Tune them up.
• Do the same with 5 and 2.
• Do the same with 4 and 3

Your guitar is now ready for left-handed playing.
